In my quest to find the ultimate way to deploy Rails to the cloud I believe I have finally found the ideal tool!

I will talk through setting up Flightcontrol to deploy a Production version of a basic Rails app and speak about the benefits of using a tool that provisions hardware in your own account rather than paying a premium on top like most other PaaS (Platform as a service) do.

Flightcontrol is a relatively new service with top tier support directly from the founders and is a perfect balance between abstraction and implementation that gives you enough control without needing to know everything about AWS and its best practises.

You can easily setup multiple environments e.g. Staging, Production with multiple services e.g. App server, worker/background servers and database all with custom scaling settings.
